About the Author, Alan Wilkinson

Alan E. Wilkinson had a 25-year career with California State Parks as a field ranger, interpreter, supervisor, and regional specialist. He has taught at Humboldt State University and is the coauthor with Carolyn Widner Ward of the Basic Interpretation Learning System. Wilkinson currently lives in Humboldt county with his wife Barbara. Dr. Carolyn J. Widner Ward grew up exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She has taught at three universities in the U.S. and Canada and is currently a professor at Humboldt State University in northern California. She received her PhD from Virginia Tech and is editor of the Journal of Interpretation Research.
