Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung

In construction, numerous people work together at different stages to build structures, roads and tunnels to name a few projects. In this informational text, readers are briefly introduced to some of the people involved in construction, like the crew supervisors, equipment operators, plumbers and carpenters. The text includes content vocabulary that may require support and assistance for young readers to understand the concepts and facilitate reading. The full-page, color photographs are moderately supportive to illustrate the construction crew members at work (one point to note was the lack of female construction workers in the photographs). Early readers may need instruction to understand the purpose and usage of the book's informational text features such as the table of contents, glossary and index. The book includes additional book titles and the FactHound internet site for further exploration and information. This book is a part of the six-book set called "Construction Zone." Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
