Synopsis
Editors Cohen (philosophy, Georgia State University) and Wellman (philosophy, Washington University) have brought together contributions from theorists in philosophy, social theory, and law to present 11 pairs of opposing essays. Written to be accessible to introductory students and yet substantial enough for more sophisticated readers, the essays take opposing viewpoints on abortion, affirmative action, animal rights, capital punishment, cloning, euthanasia, immigration, pornography, privacy and civil society, values in nature, and world hunger. Most of the essays include notes, references, and a further reading list. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
