About the Author, Janice McLaughlin

JANICE MCLAUGHLIN is Executive Director of the Policy, Ethics and Life Sciences Research Centre, as well as a Reader in Sociology, at Newcastle University, UK. Her recent publications include Families Raising Disabled Children: Enabling Care and Social Justice (co-authored with Dan Goodley, Emma Clavering and Pamela Fisher), Feminist, Social and Political Philosophy: Contemporary Debates and Dialogues and Intersections Between Feminist and Queer Theory (co-edited with Diane Richardson and Mark Casey).

PETER PHILLIMORE is Professor of Social Anthropology in the School of Geography, Politicsand Sociology at Newcastle University, UK. His main interests are in medical and environmental anthropology, and he has published widely on health inequalities and the politics of environmental risk.

DIANE RICHARDSONis Professor of Sociology at Newcastle University, UK. She has an international reputation for her work on the social organisation of sexuality and gender. Her books include Rethinking Sexuality, Intersections Between Feminist and Queer Theory (co-edited with Janice McLaughlin and Mark Casey) and and Introducing Gender and Women's Studies(co-edited with Victoria Robinson) Her latest book (with Surya Monro) is Sexuality, Diversity and Social Change.
