Overview

Cher doesn't settle for second-best when it comes to food that's healthful as well as delicious. Inspired by her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and her passion for good food, Andy Ennis became a master at cooking up great-tasting guilt-free dishes like his signature Tapenade Chicken, served with pasta with Rustic Grilled Tomato Sauce, or Crisp Scallops in Spicy Roasted Red Pepper Sauce, accompanied by Black-Eyed Pea Salad. Andy shares recipes for family favorites: Cher's Ranch Salad, Chastity's Italian Spinach and Onions, and Georgia's Corn Bread Dressing, as well as some of Cher's favorite desserts, like his Nectarine-Blueberry Cobbler and a mouth-watering Chocolate Fudge Torte. In Cooking for Cher you'll find a pantry list, cooking tips, and suggested menus for special occasions. You'll also find Andy's stories about the special times he's shared with Cher and her family, 4 pages of color photographs from his private collection, and a warm personal foreword from Cher herself.

Library Journal

Ennis, a former restaurant chef, has been cooking low-fat, low-calorie food for movie star Cher for eight years, and here he presents her favorite dishes (in case you were wondering, she seems to like garlic salt). Although the recipes are clearly written and accompanied by numerous sidebars on techniques and ingredients, this remains a celebrity cookbook. Will Cher's favorites be as popular as Rosie Daley's phenomenally successful In the Kitchen with Rosie: Oprah's Favorite Recipes (LJ 5/15/94)? It's unlikely, but expect demand.
