Corrections

Corrections provides an overview of today's correctional system, including probation, parole, female and male offenders, prisons, and jails. The second edition features updated references, coverage of current issues, and a new, more logical, chapter order. By reading Corrections, 2e, students will develop an understanding of the historical significance of punishment, the theories of punishment, and the consequences that result from current penal practices.

Alejandro del Carmen, Ph.D., University of Texas at Arlington Alex del Carmen earned a B.A. in criminal justice from Florida International University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Florida State University's School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. In addition to being an assistant professor at University of Texas at Arlington, he serves as the director of the Center for Criminal Justice Research and Training.
