Couples of Mixed HIV Status: Clinical Issues and Interventions

Beckerman (social work, Yeshiva U.) offers therapists a conceptual framework for conducting assessment and intervention with couples of mixed HIV status. Drawing upon the findings of a research study involving 44 couples, she provides examples of ways to help clients work through issues such as disclosure of HIV status, fear of disease transmission, and shifts in emotional intimacy.
