Children's Literature -
With photographs of cranes on every page, this book is an easy introduction to how cranes help us in our everyday lives. From skyscrapers to building sea bridges, cranes are shown in various locations. Although many of the photographs seem similar, there are a few that stand out, like the crane shown lifting the space shuttle, and another yielding a wrecking ball. The text is super simple for the beginning reader who is also a fan of construction or big machinery. Bold print identifies the parts of the crane throughout the text and is later highlighted in a labeled picture at the back of the book. Young readers might find this labeled illustration helpful in understanding the parts of the crane and how they work. This book is informative but might be lacking the detail that a more sophisticated reader is looking for.School Library Journal
Gr 1-2-Bullard describes different types of cranes and explains how they are used in construction and other jobs. The average-quality color photographs are informative and help to elucidate the text. A page of facts about cranes and a drawing of a tower crane with the parts labeled are appended. An easy-to-read addition.-Cynde Suite, Bartow County Library System, Adairsville, GA Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.Book Details
