About the Author, Floyd Boschee

Floyd Boschee has an extensive background in teaching and educational leadership. He has served as a teacher, coach, and school administrator in the public schools and as a professor and chairman of departments of education at the collegiate level. He is Professor Emeritus in the Division of Educational Administration, School of Education, at The University of South Dakota and a former school board member of the Vermillion School District, Vermillion, South Dakota. During his tenure as a university professor, he consulted with school districts on reorganization, published numerous articles in major educational journals, and conducted workshops on curriculum development and implementation, the teaching and learning process, and school administrator evaluations. He is the author or coauthor of 10 books in the fields of school administration and curriculum leadership.

Bruce M. Whitehead serves as an elementary school principal in School District #4, Missoula, Montana and as an adjunct professor at the University of Montana. His career includes appointments to numerous national and international committees as well as being elected as president of the Montana Association of Elementary School Principals and president of the Montana State Reading Association. He also served as chairman of the Montana Governor's Task Force on Technology. As a Distinguished Alumni recipient at the University of Montana, he has authored or coauthored six books in the fields of administration, reading, and technology, and written numerous articles published in major educational journals. Additional honors and awards include The International Reading Association's Presidential Service Award,NAESP's National Distinguished Principal Award, Milken Family Foundation's National Outstanding Educator Award, The John F. Kennedy Center's Award for Arts in Education, and Japan's International Mathematics Soroban Institute Award.

At the time of his passing in 2007, Allan A. Glatthorn was emeritus distinguished research professor of education at East Carolina University, where he advised doctoral students, chaired dis sertations, and taught courses in super vision and curriculum. He was formerly a professor of education at the graduate school of education of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his university assignments, he was a high school teacher and principal. He was the author of numerous professional books, several of which have been published by Corwin Press.
