Synopsis
Daddies come in all shapes and sizes—slimy and scruffy, long and fluffy! And daddies make all different kinds of noises—squeak and chirp, buzz and bumble! But what do all daddies have in common? They make us feel safe and snug with tender daddy hugs!
Children's Literature
Beautifully illustrated baby animals experience a wide array of emotions as they bond with their dads. The daddy snails are slimy, the snakes are long, the turtles are slow, and the raccoons are sneaky. Each animal's characteristic is described with a simple term that, when read aloud, creates an appealing rhythmic flow. There are two words per page and the print is large. The colorful illustrations give all of the animals a warm and friendly appearance. Despite all of their unique animal qualities, the daddies in this book all have one thing in common, and that is the tender hugs that they share with their children. Young children will certainly enjoy this book and may even request that it be read over and over. The author and illustrator are a husband and wife team. The illustrator is mostly recognized for her drawings in the popular book Bear Snores On. Reviewer: Denise Daley
