Overview

Raped on her wedding night, a bride must take her own vengeance Dave and Jill Wade come to Pennsylvania, the ink still wet on their marriage license, expecting three weeks of lakeside honeymooning bliss. All is lovely until gunshots shatter their first night together. Killers have come for the man in the next cabin, and afterward they decide to silence the happy couple, battering Dave and dragging his virgin bride into the dead man’s bedroom. The Wades say nothing to the police, but afterward take a second set of vows: death for the men who ruined their honeymoon. They set out for New York, ready to take on the city’s mobsters as they consecrate their marriage in blood. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Lawrence Block, including rare photos and never-before-seen documents from his personal collection, and a new afterword written by the author.

Newlyweds Dave and Jill Wade stood quietly on the porch of the mountain cabin and watched as a man they had never seen before was shot four times by two ruthless killers. Now, as the Wades pay cruelly for their innocent knowledge, they vow to consumate their marriage in only one way--revenge. From the author of A Long Line Of Dead Men. Previously published.

Library Journal

Deadly Honeymoon was the first hardback by the prolific Block, who has written more than 100 books. First published in 1967 and made into an unsuccessful movie called Nightmare Honeymoon, the story remains exciting decades later. Dave and his virgin bride, Jill, arrive at a secluded cabin in the woods for a three-week honeymoon. When they witness the brutal underworld-style murder of the man in the cabin next door, Dave is mercilessly beaten by the killers and Jill is viciously raped. Instead of reporting the crime to the police, the couple decide to hunt down the hit men and take revenge. VERDICT Alan Sklar, commercial voice-over actor and experienced audiobook reader, does an excellent job. He seamlessly changes from one accent to another and captures the intent and style of the author. Highly recommended for Block fans and other mystery heads.—Ilka Gordon, Siegal Coll. of Judaic Studies Lib., Cleveland
