Instead of hanging out with her friends, flirting with cute guys at parties or doing anything a normal sixteen-year-old does after school, Tangie Burton is an unpaid babysitter, maid and cook in her own house. And she still manages to ace every class. Does her workaholic mother even notice all Tangie does? Or what's really going on with her troubled older sister? Or that Tangie is losing it? Not likely.
So when Tangie's best friend, Marcus, comes over with problems of his own and suggests they leave everyone and everything behind, Tangie uncharacteristically says yes. And off they go on a road trip that will mean big changes for them and everyone back home .
