These essays should provide an understanding of the Democratic vision of the future. More than 40 party leaders and politicos, including all the announced Democratic candidates for president, here address the issues facing Americans today. Economic policy dominates, but the essays also focus on foreign policy, education, national security, and AIDS. With an introduction by ``noncandidate'' Mario Cuomo and contributions from rising stars of the party (Henry Cisneros, Pat Schroeder) academics, labor leaders, and others (Robert Redford), the perspective is broad if not deep.
