Overview

Based on the guidelines from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), National Consortium of State Guidance Leadership, and other highly recognized organizations, DESIGNING and IMPLEMENTING COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAMS is by far the most comprehensive book on the market. The text gives in-depth discussion about major models that dominate the field and then takes the discussion a step further by showing how to implement these models in practice.

Synopsis

This textbook outlines several models for comprehensive school counseling programs, then defines specific components of the programs identified in both the comprehensive guidance program model (CGPM) and the ASCA national model. Brown (University of North Carolina) and Trusty (Pennsylvania State University) also discuss the needs of minority students, factors influencing counselor's role assignments, the traits of effective leaders, the advocacy process, and using technology to deliver services.
