Overview

Discourses of Ethnicity locates the objectification of ethnicity within a historical framework in order to discuss from an anthropological perspective, issues concerning class, culture and social classification, modes of protest and the forging of collective identities among subordinate groups. It examines the relationship between historical structure, human experience and social consciousness in the constitution of ethnicity. The Jharkhand case in the state of Bihar in Northern India is taken as a case-study.
