School Library Journal
Gr 7-10-- Solid, self-affirming information is packed into a text peppered liberally with black-and-white and full-color photographs, and including a list for further reading. With its highly visual format, the book seems to target reluctant readers, although the material is appropriate for teens in any category. Milios emphasizes making choices that lead in positive directions and teaches decision-making as a learned skill. Discussions focus on the development of both short- and long-term goals. The author suggests that readers seek assistance from guidance counselors and community leaders and focuses on the role of schools as preparers for the future. Similar, but for younger readers, is Roxane Kunz's What Should I Do? (Dillon, 1986; o.p.), while additional depth and detail await YAs in Sandra Smith's Coping with Decision Making (Rosen, 1989). For both individual reading and/or group discussions in schools and social service agencies, this is a fine addition. --Celia A. Huffman, Cuyahoga County Public Library, ClevelandBook Details
