School Library Journal
Gr 3-5
Each book describes a distinct habitat and includes 10 chapters with information on climate, location, plants, animals, people, conservation, and a page of relevant facts and figures. The texts are concise and accessible. Clear, colorful photographs show the landscape and the varied plants and wildlife in each area. Insets with fast facts answer such questions as "Why are they called 'Savannas'?" and "Rain Forest Adaptations" offer additional details. These titles are more informative and challenging than the "Rookie Reader" series and are on about the same level as the "True Books" (both Children's Press). These timely books provide high-quality material on ecology and conservation.
