Gr 6 Up-This series entry briefly explores racial, gender, age, sex, and disability discrimination. Each chapter presents compelling demonstrations of current discriminatory practices, along with solid background information and suggestions for creating change. The author refrains, however, from addressing the political setbacks that occurred during the 1980s, particularly in relation to affirmative action. Still, this offering is a good starting point for young researchers who will move on to more complicated titles, such as those in the ``Opposing Viewpoints'' series (Greenhaven). Illustrated with a few black-and-white photographs, the book contains thorough chapter notes; a short, on-target bibliography; and a good beginner's list of activist organizations.-Kellie Flynn, St. Teresa High School, Decatur, ILBook Details
