Children's Literature - Leila Toledo

The Dodge Viper hit the scene in 1992. It was built to be swift and powerful. The early cars had no roof or door handles on the outside of the car and, instead of an ignition key, there was a red button that the driver pushed on the dashboard to start the car. The early history is lacking, except for the indication that it was a concept car in 1989. Since it is a Dodge product, I assume that it is an American car, but this may not be something that a young reader would know. The Viper is considered one of the fastest cars on the road, and to make the Viper faster, the body of the car is made of lightweight plastic. The text is in both English and Spanish. Important terms are shown in bold letters with definitions. The various car parts are pictured in diagram form. The photographs throughout the text are large and vividly colored. Additional resources are included on available internet sites and a glossary of terms is provided. This book is part of the "Blazers" series. Reviewer: Leila Toledo
