Synopsis
DOWN THE ACADEMIC HIGH ROAD traces the arduous, journey to acquire B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, and apply that knowledge to university teaching. Rising from humble beginnings as a lone North Dakota farm child, the author excels over many of his contemporaries, being selected as a Fulbright Scholar for a year's study in Australia. Three years as a flying officer in the U.S. Air Force inflict major bumps on the academic high road. Later, a chronic back ailment strikes him down, cuts short his teaching career.
