The sessions record the continuous and often frustrating attempts by a psychotherapist (played by Jonathan Katz) to help a group of quirky patients (played by Garry Shandling, Steven Wright, Rita Rudner, Anthony Clark, Janeane Garofalo, Carol Leifer, among others) deal with their neuroses. The self-deprecating Dr. Katz has his own problems and is sometimes unsure of his professional abilities and qualifications; indeed, at times he loses control of his patients' sessions.
