Synopsis

Losing a tooth isn't easy—especially when you're a dragon

Ginger has a loose tooth, and she is in dragon-size pain. But she will never, never, NEVER go the dentist. So her brothers, Ben and Buster, lasso her and drag her to Dr. Frumble, who fixes her problem right away. But when Dr. Frumble wants to give the boys' mouths a good cleaning, they get all fired up.

This charming chapter book is sure to get a smile from any early reader.

Children's Literature

This chapter book is a colorful tale about a young dragon that needs to visit the dentist. Ginger is having trouble with a loose tooth. Although Ginger's brothers Ben and Buster and her best friend Zoey think of everything from chewing purple bubble gum to using a lasso to help her tooth fall out, nothing works. Finally, with much coaxing, Ginger is literally pushed into visiting the dentist. Once in the singing dentist's office, all sorts of hilarity ensue. Regardless, Dr. Fumble is able to help Ginger with her tooth problems. Unexpectedly, Dr. Fumble also helps Ben and Buster with their teeth and makes an important discovery while doing so. This would be a perfect book to use for bibliotherapy purposes. Teachers could use it to discuss fears students may have about visiting dentists or doctors. This book could also be included in a classroom library for class read-alouds or for independent reading. Because the text of this book creates vivid images, the illustrations, although well drawn, would enhance the text more if in color.
