Children's Literature - Sheilah Egan

In the style of the great thumbprint master Ed Emberley, Klutz has created a child-friendly book of Christmas thumbprint activities. Packaged in a sturdy-paged, spiral-bound forty-page book with two thumb-sized stamp pads (red and green, of course) and a "little black pen" for adding details (such as "flying legs" for Rudolph the Reindeer), this title will make creating greeting cards, wrapping paper, decorations, etc., fun and easy. Small thumbprint characters make humorous little remarks on the pages of step-by step illustrated instructions. The designs (snowflakes, trees, etc.) and characters (snowmen, elves, etc.) created in the book are easy to reproduce and will serve as an excellent springboard for the user's own imagination. The instructions are very specific and make suggestions for adding extra details but the creative child will be adding their own details instantaneously. The ink pads and marker do conform to ASTM and while "washable," should be used with supervision for the younger artists in the family. The book also includes six "tear-out" gift tags, which will stimulate creating one's own gift tags for year round gift wrapping. Clever and fun to use, this would be an excellent gift for a family to share during the holidaysβ€”artistic users will find it a source of ideas, and "not-so-artistic" users will be delighted to be able to follow the directions (exactingly) and actually create cute reindeer, snowmen, Santa Claus, etc.
