Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot

At the moment, I am looking out of my train car window at a huge forklift moving railroad tracks. What could be more appropriate than reviewing a book that demonstrates a variety of powerful machines. The huge dump truck pictured is extremely sturdy; it can lift and dump more than 300 tons. Huge bulldozers and excavators are used in construction and mining, as are powerful cranes that can lift more than 1,700 tons into the air. There are also heavy-duty helicopters and cargo planes that can lift off with trucks and tanks in their bellies. A new one for me is the aerial which can raise a crew of workers 300 feet into the air. These and other vehicles are truly power lifters. If it does not bother parents that the trucks are a blatant advertisement for the toys sold by Tonka, then the books in the "Driving Force" series will hold some appeal, especially for boys who are crazy about vehicles.
