Synopsis
Wanberg (Center for Addictions Research and Evaluation) presents a provider's guide to accompany a set of three participant workbooks designed to educate and treat impaired driving offenders. Drawing on the literature found in the general treatment of alcohol and other drug problems, and on recent developments in the areas of mental health, assessment, and psychotherapy, it applies principles and processes of cognitive-behavioral treatment to impaired driving offenders. Section I provides a historical perspective and theoretical foundation, and Section II presents a conceptual framework, covering issues such as the therapeutic alliance and motivation. Section III provides content and detailed guidelines for conducting sessions for two educational curricula and a treatment curriculum for offenders. Appendices provide screening instruments and other useful forms. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
