Description:This is an excellent reference on the neurological effects of medications. Topics ranging from drug-induced cerebrovascular disorders to serotonin syndrome are covered.
Purpose:The purpose is to give the practicing physician a reference to the common neurological effects of various medications administered to patients. The objective is worthy and well met with this book.
Audience:Due to the detail, the audience who would find this book most useful are neurology residents and attendings.
Features:The book covers a wide range of drug induced neurological disorders, ranging from myopathies to pituitary disorders. The chapters are well organized and structured and very readable. Occasional tables and charts are very helpful.
Assessment:Overall, this is an excellent addition to the shelf of any practicing neurologist. The question of medication-related disorders is frequently discussed and oftentimes not fully acknowledged. This is in part due to the constant addition of new medications, making it difficult to keep up. This second edition is greatly needed due to the rapid growth in the types of medications now available. Now a physician has a succinct reference when questions of medication related neurological disorders arise.
