Children's Literature
Children's Press has just published a twelfth book in the "Rookie Read-about Holidays" series that describes Earth Day and the why and how of this celebration. The text by Marx is in large bold print with difficult words spelled out phonetically. Excellent, brightly colored photographs with much detail are found throughout this book. These pictures, selected by Caroline Anderson, give the book more substance then the simple, factual and often dry text does. A "Words You Know" section, complete with companion pictures, plus an index are found in the back of the book. This text is appropriate for young readers enrolled in an environmental education program. 2001, Children's Press, $19.00 and $5.95. Ages 5 to 9. Reviewer: Earla SomervilleBook Details
