Children's Literature - Heidi Quist

Limos provides instructions for 14 simple bead crafts to keep young hands occupied and entertained, involving varying levels of supervision. The projects include both decorative and useful items, such as jewelry (bracelets and necklaces), a belt, and a bookmark. Among the decorative projects are a wall hanging paper kite, a bead doll, a peacock, and others. Many of the materials are household items such as paper and pens, buttons, yarn, scissors, and paintbrushes, but also a few include less common materials like air drying clay, wire, and specific types of beads. Some of the activities are fairly quick, but most will require more time and attention, some even are a bit involved, such as the belt, and might require a few hours, but a helpful index in the back organizes the crafts according to level of difficulty. Also included is a list of books and internet sites for those more interested in crafts rather than those who are more into experimenting. Generally speaking, the projects in this book will be helpful for curious children to know how interested they are in pursuing more bead and clay work. Reviewer: Heidi Quist
