PreS-- Ba, short for Bartholomew, is less than pleased with his dinner and emits his one word, ``Nah,'' with emphatic insistence when he is told to eat up. Yet when big George proceeds to polish off his own dinner and a luscious piece of honey cake, Ba has second thoughts. His licks his bowl clean and accepts a piece of cake with an innocent ``Nah.'' Everything about this book will appeal to toddlers: the familiar scenario and the focused, expressive illustrations. Miller uses a bold crayon line and soft watercolor washes to create simple, consistent designs that center readers' attention on the young bear and his mealtime struggle. Although this is not a new theme, it is dealt with adroitly and honestly. A warm and pleasant book. --Martha Topol, Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City, MIBook Details
