Synopsis

A credit risk analyst in Germany, Mitropoulos re-analyzes models of learning that have been developed over the past half century by both psychologists and economists, and applies them to a setting involving extremely little information. Indeed the setting does not even allow the application of the sophisticated models that economists initially have proposed, and requires resorting to basic psychological concepts in order to model behavior. The primary motivation of the analysis described is economic—to work out determinants for inefficiencies within social interactions—so the mind, which is the primary focus of psychology, serves only as a means of gaining insight into the reasons for inefficient behavior.
