The aim of this book is to examine Arab economic policy and performance in the 1990s. Rivlin (Moshe Dayan Center for Middle East and African Studies, Tel Aviv University) looks at domestic and international pressures that have simultaneously fostered change and limited available policy options. He assesses socioeconomic issues, the role of rental incomes and interest groups, and problems facing the industrial and agricultural sectors, and addresses the results of stabilization and structural adjustment policies. His analysis is situated in the context of the debate on IMF and World Bank policies. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)Book Details
