Children's Literature -
This text is part of the "Pro Wrestling Champions" series focused on famous pro wrestlers. This particular text, which is about Edge (Adam Copeland), contains three chapters that focus on different aspects of Edge's life before and after joining the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), including those who inspired his wrestling. The emphasis, though, is on Edge's WWE career, his championships, and his interactions with other wrestlers. Photographs of Edge in action by himself or in actual matches with other wrestlers add to the text and provide visual encouragement to less-motivated readers to read the wrestler's story. This reviewer did not have a great deal of knowledge about the WWE, so the glossary was exceptionally helpful as it clarified terms that are used in a very distinctive way in the world or professional wrestling: for example, I did not realize that a "face" in WWE is a "wrestler considered a hero by fans." The book also includes access to Edge's website that provides more information for his fans; it also has a "surf" button for other sites related to the wrestler. This text, and the series in general, provides younger WWE fans with a quick and interesting look at their favorite "faces" and "heels" that they should be able to read and understand easily.
