Gr 4-8-A look at the life of the popular skater before and after the sudden death of her pairs partner and husband, Sergei Grinkov. After discussing her subject's childhood and detailing the couple's relationship and career, Shea focuses on how Gordeeva has dealt with her grief. Her story offers readers hope that although tragic things happen, life goes on. Skating terminology used in the text is explained in the glossary. The black-and-white photographs depict both happy and sad times in the skaters' lives. Although much of the same information can be found in Gordeeva's book, A Letter to Daria (Little, Brown, 1998) this is still a good read for sports lovers.-Barb Lawler, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, PABook Details
