About the Author, Elizabeth Connor, M. Sandra Wood

Elizabeth Connor, MLS, AHIP, is Assistant Professor of Library Science and Science Liaison at the Daniel Library of the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina in Charleston. A distinguished member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals, she has held library leadership positions at teaching hospitals and medical schools in Maryland, Saudi Arabia, Connecticut, South Carolina, and the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Ms. Conner has authored several peer-reviewed articles about electronic resources, search engines, chat reference, and medical informatics, and has published more than 70 book reviews in Library Journal, Against the Grain, Bulletin of the Medical Library Association, Journal of the Medical Library Association, Medical Reference Services Quarterly, and the Post & Courier. She manages the book review process for Medical Reference Services Quarterly and is co-editor of Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries. Ms. Conner is the author of Internet Guide to Travel Health and Internet Guide to Food Safety and Security; and editor of A Guide to End User Education Programs in Medical Libraries and Planning, Renovating, and Constructing Library Facilities in Hospitals, Academic Medical Centers, and Health Organizations, all published by The Haworth Press. She is the editor of a forthcoming series of textbooks for library school students, also to be published by Haworth.

M. Sandra Wood, MLA, MBA, AHIP, FMLA, is Librarian Emerita, Pennsylvania State University. Previously, she was Librarian, Reference and Database Services, The George T. Harrell Library, The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey, Pennsylvania. She has more than 35 years experience as a medical reference librarian, with experience/interests in general reference services, management of reference services, database and Internet searching, and user instruction.

Ms. Wood has been widely published in the field of medical reference and is editor of Medical Reference Services Quarterly, Journal of Consumer Health on the Internet, and co-editor of Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries (Haworth). She is the author of Internet Guide to Cosmetic Surgery for Women (Haworth) and Internet Guide to Cosmetic Surgery for Women (Haworth), and is editor or co-editor of several other Haworth books, including Women's Health on the Internet, Health Care Resources on the Internet: A Guide for Librarians and Health Care Consumers, Men's Health on the Internet, and Cancer Resources on the Internet. She is a member of the Medical Library Association and the Special Libraries Association, and has served on the MLA's Board of Director as Treasurer. Ms. Wood is also a Fellow of the Medical Library Association.
