Synopsis
The tale that winds its way through the pages is an almost unbelievable set of events that was triggered by a fated chance meeting. Our hero is a young Greek surgeon who operates on a lady who has suffered a horrific fall from her horse, swiftly followed by an unprovoked mugging. Our heroine has lived with a partner for fourteen years, and until that fated day of the accident, her loyalty was such that she has never even looked at another man in all those years.During her enforced hospital stay, our hero toys with her emotions until she realises she has an attraction to him that cannot be quelled, despite her moral dilemma. He also feels a strange electrical attraction, which he cannot comprehend. They have to meet again, regardless of the unethical implications for the surgeon, who is also attached, having a girlfriend betrothed to him by his Greek family. Unfortunately, the eventual highly charged evening of passion they spend together is brought to an abrupt end. Our heroine's partner arrives on the scene and beats the hell out of both of them.
There is an obvious parting of the ways, leaving behind a trail of destruction, guilt and sadness. From the very heights of heaven they fall into the pit of despair, from which neither is likely to recover. The story takes some hairpin twists as our unwitting soul mates accept their lives have changed. Almost inevitably, a second chance meeting looms for them many years later. Will the smouldering embers of passion be dampened, or will they become a raging fire once more?
