Synopsis

Includes Audio CD.

This new edition of Elementary Korean is the most comprehensive and detailed introductory Korean textbook available. Perfect for a first-year university-level course or for the independent language learner, with no prior knowledge of the language necessary.

A new format—now with dozens of illustrations—presents vocabulary, grammar, conversations and exercises that make Korean accessible and understandable. The new edition also includes corrections and some new content, such as new vocabulary and exercises.

Library Journal

Intended for teacher-independent learning, this revision of the 2000 edition has been updated to correct erroneous orthographic spellings and replace colloquial spellings with official ones, while also incorporating other modifications to verbal and grammatical conventions. King (Elementary Korean) and Yeon (Studies in Korean Morpho-Syntax) offer a 15-lesson introduction to Korean basics, detailing the social conventions influencing word choice and sentence construction. The book does not include romanizations but phonetic transcriptions for swifter phonic comprehension. Over 1000 new vocabulary words are presented. Engaging, novel exercises like Sudoku puzzles and character dialogs reinforce key concepts.
