About the Author, Jacobs, Joseph

Joseph Jacobs (1854-1916) was an Australian folklorist and scholar. Born in Sydney to Jewish parents, Jacobs emigrated to England at age 18 to complete his schooling. He later edited the JEWISH ENCYCLOPEDIA and published extensively on folklore and mythology.
