Synopsis
Grouping and classification are among the first math and science skills that children need to learn. This fun book will challenge children to observe natural creatures to see what makes them the same and different. It presents an interesting way of looking at objects, because the objects may not be exactly the same. For example, birds have two wings, but the wings of different birds may not look similar.Editorials
Children's Literature -
In this Spanish translation of Is It the Same or Different? the reader is shown pictures of living things and asked to compare them. Some that seem appropriately grouped—like a kitten, lynx cub and tiger cub—challenge the reader to look with a discriminating eye and find the differences. Others—like the leopard cub, leopard butterfly, leopard salamander and leopard shark—are obviously different, but the reader is asked to find the similarities. Mixed in with all of the live animals and insects is a section that shows six sets of eyes and a list of the possible owners; this gives the reader a little challenge. With quality photos similar to those in ¿Que forma tiene?, the reader is asked to look at real, familiar organisms and practice their skills of comparing and contrasting. Finding the differences and similarities is not difficult, but seeing a puppy, duckling, frog, and hamster grouped together in teacups is a lot of fun. Reviewer: Mandy CruzBook Details
