Synopsis

Appropriate for introductory/intermediate essay composition courses at both the college and university level.
The process of writing essays is divided into interdependent stages. For clarity of organization and ease of instruction, each stage is then subdivided into a number of steps. This approach provides instructors and students with a way of thinking about the essay-writing process that is both systematic and flexible. It encourages creativity and improvisation, but also emphasizes the need for comprehensive revision.
