Features: The book is divided into 16 chapters that move from information about measurement, evaluation, and testing; to social, ethical, and legal issues; and to program evaluation as it relates to evaluation and testing. Each chapter includes detailed explanations and illustrates by example the important concepts and principles. A chapter is devoted to evaluation of problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills.
Assessment: This comprehensive textbook and reference presents the information in a clear, well-organized, concise manner. Through their many years of experience in teaching measurement to nurses and other health professionals as well as their involvement in constructing and employing measurement practices in a variety of nursing situations, the authors have created a book that will be of tremendous help to those seeking assistance. The information integrates content, emphasizing application to nursing education. However, more references or examples for clinicians and administrators would have been a helpful addition to the text. The book incorporates current research developments and includes references from classic and current literature.
