Overview

This intimate, in-depth look at the life of Jesus shows how the Savior's life models true discipleship and how we might live our lives in light of Him. Explore the great sweep of Scripture through the rhythms of the Christian year.

Synopsis

Thomas Steagald says we typically take Scripture in bits and pieces, absorbing and applying small portions of the Bible to our immediate, daily needs. But this method fails to truly immerse us in the life of Jesus. As a result, our discipleship suffers from superficial experience with the Lord. It also lacks movement—we miss the subtle shifts Jesus wants us to take from lingering skepticism to deepening trust, from fear to surrender, from familiarity to mystery.

Steagald sets out to help us recover our footing on the path of a more experiential walk with Jesus through the movements and seasons of the Lord’s life. The author invites us to explore the great sweep of Scripture through the rhythms of the Christian year. As we meditate on the events of Jesus’ life (prophecies of his coming, stories of his birth, his teachings and miracles, his rejection and death, his resurrection), we reflect on our own lives in light of his life. We find the missing meaning of our life in the day-to-day experience of following Jesus.
