Gr 8-12-- This series entry targets reluctant readers, providing accessible information to help them cope. It stresses taking responsibility for one's behavior and offers insight into controlling anger, concluding with a test on self-esteem. A final summary serves as both review and reinforcement. The facts are presented in a clear and straightforward manner, with narrative asides about individual youngsters for emphasis. Several black-and-white and full-color photographs accentuate points made in the text. A brief further reading list has a mix of fiction and nonfiction titles; appended is a section of helpful agencies as well as strategies for seeking out such organizations in a particular community. This is a good introduction to more in-depth titles such as Paul Gelinas's Coping with Anger (Rosen, 1988) and Deidre Laiken's Listen To Me, I'm Angry (Lothrop, 1980; o.p.), which have text-rich, nonpictorial formats. This one is a valuable quick-read for all students, but particularly reluctant readers. --Celia A. Huffman, Cuyahoga County Public Library, ClevelandBook Details
