Young children with a taste for exploration are sure to enjoy this latest addition to the "Explora los Contientes" series. This volume, which focuses on the people and land of South America, proves to be both an informative and pleasurable read. Sections within this Spanish non-fiction book are divided into two page chapters that guide readers in discovering the many diverse aspects of the continent of South America. Topics include oceans and continents around the world, countries composing South America, the equator, continental climate, terrain (mountains and islands), areas of water, rainforests, grasslands, deserts, cities and towns, life in rural areas, natural resources, culture, and selected attractions. Explanations are aided by clear, age appropriate word selection and sentence structure geared for elementary school audiences. The book also includes a table of contents, glossary, and index, although some bolded words in the text are not included. Readers will also enjoy the many vibrant and informative images. Given the educational subject matter of this book, it would be a great addition to any public, school, or home libraries with Spanish collections. Reviewer: Kathleen MonksBook Details
