Children's Literature

Spring is a great time to learn what it means to be a scientist, to formulate hypotheses, conduct experiments, and learn! Readers of this book are invited to be scientists, asking the question β€œWhy do we have seasons?” The Earth experiences four seasons because of the its tilt and how it moves around the sun. Spring is the time of year when the temperatures get warmer and plants can experience rapid growth. It used to be called Lenten because it is also the time when the days get longer. This paperback black and white guide to Spring focuses on the relationship between the Earth and sun that causes Spring as well as how plants and animals are affected. It’s a good time to observe plants growing. Bamboo can grow up to 3 feet in one day. It’s also a good time to learn to identify trees by their bark before the leaves come out. And, it’s a good time to observe which animals are migrating. Monarch butterflies migrate thousands of miles every Spring. Spring is a good time to build a bird’s nest in honor of all of the new babies born then. Reviewer: Kristin Harris
