Janet Julian - KLIATT
A small but lavishly illustrated book, Exploring Saturn tells readers in detail all we currently know about the ringed planet. Babylonian astronomers used Saturn to predict dire events and Aristotle thought the ringed planet orbited Earth. Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo studied the planet, adding more accurate observations. Today we have photographs of Saturn from the Hubble Space Telescope and space explorers, including the Cassini-Huygens Mission that lifted off in 1997. It is scheduled to reach the ringed planet in July 2004 where it will stay for four years. Eleven pages are dedicated to this mission. Tables list Saturn's ring system, 18 of its satellites, and comparisons with Earth. Seven Web sites are provided. KLIATT Codes: JSA-Recommended for junior and senior high school students, advanced students, and adults. 2003, Firefly, 61p. illus., Ages 12 to adult.
