Gr 2-5Klum's photographs of tropical rainforest plants and animals are striking and informative. Unfortunately, they are accompanied by a text that jumps from one viewpoint and topic to the next without clear organization. The scientific underpinnings often seem shallow, based more on personal travel observations than solid research. Generalizations abound. The fact that the book was written for a Swedish audience is apparent in the frequent comparisons that use Sweden as a point of reference. The author's devotion to halting rainforest destruction is abundantly clear. However, with many other titles available on the topic, there is no need to add this attractive but superficial book to library shelves.Kathy Piehl, Mankato State University, MNBook Details
