Overview
Extraordinary Encounters: An Encyclopedia of Extraterrestrials and Otherworldly Beings is the first ever illustrated A-Z encyclopedia to explore these fascinating modern day beliefs, personalities, beings, and events. Among the beings you'll meet in its pages are Abraham, a collection of highly evolved entities that speak in one voice; Metranon, the divine interface between God and the Outer Worlds (and sometime Old Testament angel); and The Planetary Council, whose members include Jove, Merlin, Quetzalcoatl, and Lao-Tzu.
Synopsis
Here is the first A-Z encyclopedia to explore the convictions held by many in the modern day world that extraterrestrials, angels, fairy-folk, and other-dimensional intelligences regularly interact with human beings.
Library Journal
Clark (Encyclopedia of Strange & Unexplained Physical Phenomena, Unexplained: Strange Sightings, Incredible Occurrences, and Puzzling Physical Phenomena) is concerned here with experiences--or perceived experiences--of otherworldly forces, as claimed over the past 200 years. Most of the accounts fall far outside conventional notions of what it is possible to experience. Organized alphabetically, the entries are largely devoted to obscure occurrences, and the criterion for inclusion appears to be merely the claim of having seen or experienced some unusual extraterrestrial being or event. There is no evaluation or analysis of the stories related. Clark documents his sources with many suggestions for further reading, which consist of out-of-print works. Libraries with Clark's earlier works need not add this work. Those needing titles in this area would be better served by James Lewis's UFOs and Popular Culture (LJ 11/1/00).--Leroy Hommerding, Fort Myers Beach P.L.
