Synopsis

Fabrications is an innovative and international architectural exhibition developed in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art; New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, Spain. The exhibition featured sixteen full-scale architectural interventions, four at each venue, produced by sixteen architects or teams exploring broad tectonic issues. Each built work responds to the specific qualities of the four sites as well as to theoretical concerns regarding the relationship between use, meaning, and fabrication: This book chronicles the various exhibits in detail, which include site-specific works created by such innovative architects and architectural firms as MVRDV of Rotterdam, Abalos & Herreros of Madrid, Eric Owen Moss Craig Hodgetts and Ming Fung, Smith-Miller & Hawkinson, and others.
