Synopsis

Never marry a smoke jumper! Jordan Wells adopted that motto after her divorce from Cade McKenzie. She wanted a man who wasn't constantly running to the latest disaster--leaving her behind. Years later, she was finally ready to sell her mountain cabin--the only thing that still connected her to her ex--and move on with her life.

Cade had sworn he was long over Jordan, but when a deadly fire threatened her life, he didn't hesitate to lead her on a dangerous race out of a burning Montana forest. Forced to take shelter in each other's arms, old passions were ignited. And desire soon proved to be a greater threat than any wildfire...

About the Author, Gail Barrett

Gail Barrett always knew she'd be a writer. Who else would spend her childhood grinding glittery rocks into "fairy dust" and convincing her friends it was real? Or daydream her way through elementary school, spend high school reading philosophy and playing the bagpipes and then head off to Spain to live the writer's life?

Four years later, broke but fluent in Spanish, she straggled back home and discovered she'd acquired a marketable skill. So she began teaching Spanish. She also met her husband, a Montana rancher turned Coast Guard officer, and began following him around the country as he rescued ships and saved lives. Finally, after having two sons, getting a master's degree in linguistics and teaching high school Spanish for years, she decided that the time had come to write.

She now lives in Western Maryland with her husband, two sons and a very quirky Chinook dog.
