Children's Literature
Tink and her friends all live in Pixie Hollow and each has a special job to do. The highlight of each day is coming together in the tea room where they all enjoy delicious food (no calorie worries, sugar overload, or balanced diet issues here). The baking fairies create scrumptious treatsstrawberry soup, nutmeg pie, black cherry cake, roasted walnuts, and so much more. Dulcie, one of the baking fairies overheard Tink praising her delicious tarts. Ginger another baking fairy, is not happy. She believes that she is the best baker. The ensuing battle of each trying to outdo the other results in general unhappiness. The fairies no longer feel relaxed at meals. The berry bake-off seems to have gone out of control, and Tink steps in and helps them realize that they are both excellent bakers and that there is no need for competition.. For kids leaning to read and in particular those who like stories about fairies, this piece of confection should go down pretty easily. The illustrations look as if they were from an animated filmquite in vogue at the moment. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
